Seoul Bound!

We got word yesterday that our I600A is on the way to Seoul!!!  Now, lets just pray that we can file the I600 in the next 18 months so we don't have to re-file!  But I'm just happy to see that some part of our application will make it.  It is still unknown when our homestudy will make it to Seoul, but we think it will more than likely be sometime in the late fall.

Memorial Day Weekend Recap Day 3

Monday was our big boy's 4th birthday and we had a traditional birthday breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes with strawberrties and whipped cream...yum!

Then, another birthday tradition was to take Ethan fishing.  We got out on the lake and he had so much fun.  It was such a beautiful day!

We got to see two majestic bald eagles too.  One immediately flew away, but the other stayed around for a while.  So amazing!

After fishing, we took a rest at home then before heading to Ethan's party, we stopped by the cemetary to finish decorating for Memorial Day.

He had his first ever ice cream cake!

Then we had to play some games...

I have to admit...this is the first time I have not made Ethan's cake, planned a party and really worked like crazy to get it all done.  Being out of town the two days before just made it too hard.  But you know what... I learned a valuable lesson for times like this.  Ethan had just as much fun as he did when I worked all morning on his birthdays past....AND it was so much easier!

He was sad to leave, but he had so much fun.  He still talks about playing the games and having so much fun.

Looks Like Heaven

In May we were blessed to be invited to the yearly picnic held by our homestudy agency.  From our first meeting with them, they mentioned the picnic and told us to keep our calendars clear for that day.  I was so excited when the day came!  It was on a Sunday afternoon and we drove a little distance to get there.  It was so amazing to see so many countries represented there!  They made an announcement that this was one of the most unique events in the country because there were people from over 30 (well, 30 something...I couldn't hear that part really well) countries there.  All the beautiful children!  I got teary looking at all the different children and families and remembered a line from Choosing to S.ee.   I leaned over to my husband and could barely get out the words before choking up..."This must be what Heaven looks like".

I took some photos that day, mostly of Ethan, but I really failed at capturing the beauty of the day.

Ethan going up to the BIG curly slide.

And this is how he came out of the BIG curly slide!

He had so much fun!

Feeding the goats at the petting zoo.

He always wanted his shoes to go down the slide before him.

Some of the flags of the countries represented.

After a yummy dinner, we got rained out :(

There was so much more.  Live music, face painting, ice cream, drinks...and the best part (especially for a family that is adopting) is that everything was FREE!

At the time, we kept saying to each other, "Can you imagine!?  We are going to have our little one here by the time the next picnic rolls around!"  Now we know that may not be true.  Well, actually, that is more than likely not true.  But, we still may go next year and try to connect with other families a little more.  This time we were a bit shy and just taking it all in.

I am already looking forward to next May!!!

Memorial Day Weekend Recap Day 2

We had to say our see-you-laters right after breakfast and let my brother and his family get on the road to Florida.  I think it's hilarious we took about 100 photos in the hotel room!

There is my brother again...

Aunt Ashley and Ethan

After we parted ways, we decided to drive around a bit and realized that nothing was open yet because it was still pretty early on a Sunday morning.  So we started back North.  On the way we saw a sign of something really interesting and thought we would take a little detour to one of the few freshwater pearl farms in the US.  There was a little museum and everything!

I just had to get a picture of South Korea :)

A partially formed pearl cut out in the shape of a heart...

This reminded me of a fetal growth chart...maybe because I look at one all the time now (at the Center).

Heart!

It was a really neat experience and we may even plan to go back when they are having a tour of the pearl farm and get to see them harvested!
