Update on Jakin

Tuesday we went to the pediatric cardiologist and got some good news.

*The fluid around his heart had already started to decrease!
*She didn't think that he actually has SVT, but on closer examination, things the problems are more atrial...which in her words are "generally easier to correct".
*Jakin's heart rate had started to slow.  It would drop to 123 bpm for a little while then jump back up to 274 bmp.  It went back and forth during the whole visit, which is better than the 284 bpm we saw the entire visit both Thursday and Friday.

The Dr. told me to take 1/2 the dose of the Propanolol and added Digoxin.  I'm really tired and get dizzy sometimes, but otherwise, I have peace about this.  I just know, deep down inside, that he is healed and will be ok.  Keep praying for our little guy!

Showing Off Jakin

So, if I haven't mentioned it before, I have the most awesome doctors in the world.  While we were attending my regular OB visit and ultrasound last Thursday (where we noticed little Jakin's heart issues) my doctor gave me a bunch of ultra sound photos.  I just wanted to show off our perfect little boy! (Sorry some of them are out of order and blog.ger is being a booger!)

A 3-D photo of his face.

His perfect little hand.  You can see all his fingers.  He was waving at us!

This one I just love. It was taken last Thursday.  I was 17 weeks exactly and the little guy gave us a salute.  you can see his hand on his forhead.  By the way...that was Veteran's Day!

Keep praying for Jakin's heart!

These three are from my high risk OB on Friday.  17 weeks 1 day.

Again, the high risk OB took this one.  You are looking down from above his head and can see his little hand infront of his face.  Looks like he was sucking this thumb!

This one is from Thursday.  That is his "turtle".  It's a BOY!

A perfect little leg and foot!

Praying for Jakin

Ephesians 3:16-18

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your HEART as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and KEEP YOU STRONG. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

Needing Prayers

This post would get much too long if I were to go into the details of the past two days, so I'll summarize.

Yesterday, we had an appointment with my regular OB.  We learned we are having another BOY!

We also learned the baby's heart is not beating properly.  It's going too fast and he is experiencing some tachycardic episodes.  The Dr. called my high risk OB and got us in today.  Basically, our little boy's has been diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia.  His heart is beating very quickly.  The doctor has put me on blood pressure medicine that will cross the placenta to try to slow his heart down.  He says I will be pretty fatigued, but that should be the only major side effect.

He also made an appointment for us with a pediatric cardiologist for Tuesday for another ultrasound and to see if the meds are helping.

We needs prayers to be going up for our little guys heart to slow and the tachycardia to be gone!

By the way, his name is Jakin Isaac.  Jakin means "God will establish" and Isaac means "laughter".

30 Day Blog Challenge- Day 28

Something I miss...

Being niave.  Being so blissfully happy during pregnancy that I could burst and only momentarily thinking of the "what-ifs".  The feeling that even though I know bad things happen, they aren't really that common and really, with no family history, it could never happen to me.  That was how I felt in my first two pregnancies.  This one is SO different.  It's not like I let the fear and worry consume every minute of the pregnancy, but they are things that are on my mind everyday and nervousness that creeps in before every appointment and while the doppler is waving around on my tummy before we hear that beautiful sound of a strong heartbeat. I don't know how to say it except to say it is SO different.

30 Day Blog Challenge- Day 12

Whats in your bag?

I wish I had a photo of this one...

I had an appointment with my high risk OB today, so I took my big bag.

I had two books, a folder, a notebook, my wallet, several pens, a book for my hubby, my phone, some mints and my planner.  When I left, I had four beautiful ultrasound photos of my rainbow!

Everything is looking good and I go to my regular OB in 2 weeks!

Miracle

So here is our little miracle!

On Tuesday we went back to the doctor and he said, "Well, your numbers didn't double, but you've had no other symptoms...Let's see what we can see..."

This is what we saw...

A healthy baby with a strong heartbeat of 167 bpm and measuring a day ahead!  Praise God for his love, mercy and grace and his indescribable gift!!!

The numbers are in!

I was supposed to call my Dr's office today after 1:30 to get the results of my hCG draw that was done yesterday, but my wonderful nurse, Melissa, didn't want me to worry allday, so she called thismorning as soon as she could call the lab for the results.  Here it is...

Tuesday's blood draw showed my hCG to be 48,000+.  My blood was drawn in the afternoon.z

Thursday's draw showed my hCG to be going UP!!!  Praise God!!!  They like to see the numbers double every 48 to 42 hours and they weren't there at the time of the draw which was in the morning (less than 48 hours after the first draw).  They were 50,000+ though!

Keep praying!  We need these numbers to go up and to see a heartbeat at Tuesday's appointment!!!

Pray for our Rainbow Baby

This is not really how I wanted to make this announcement, but here goes.

About three weeks ago, we found out we were pregnant again!  We are so excited to be welcoming another baby into our family.  Our rainbow baby.

Today was our first prenatal appointment and the we did not see what we need to be seeing at this point.  We couldn't find a heartbeat and everything is smaller than what it should be.  They drew blood today to check my levels and they will check them again Thursday.  We need these numbers to go up!!!  If Thursdays numbers are good, we will have another ultrasound on Tuesday to see how baby is growing.  PLEASE be praying!  We need your prayers and a miracle.  Nothing is impossible with God!  We have been trying to think of something to call this baby besides "baby" and we have kind of settled on Jakin.  Jakin means "He establishes".  We need God to establish this pregnancy beyond a shadow of a doubt and make it thrive!!!

One year ago today we found out that Shyla's heart had stopped beating and this news today was definately not what we wanted to hear, but again, I can't say it enough, nothing is impossible with God!!!  Please join us in praying for our baby, Jakin, to be established!!!

We love you all.  Thank you for your prayers and for beliving in this life inside of me!
